DANIEL FAST, FINAL: A Questionable Desire

In 1991, our church was desiring to build a new sanctuary. The existing structure was no longer sufficient. The roof and walls were beginning to sag and the only real solution was to build. We had talked about building a new sanctuary for years. There were some who felt renovation was a better option. Some were fearful about our ability to pay the mortgage. Others felt we did not have the numerical strength to be successful.  We decided to push forward with our plans although we still had some in the congregation who had mixed emotions, lingering fears and...

DANIEL FAST, DAY 7: Let Your ‘Life’ Shine

God began His first day of creation with light. Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV) states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light”. Light is the beginning of all human life. Everything in the earth and oceans will perish within a few days without it. Scientists have investigated what the Bible says about creation. They have verified that the stages of creation mentioned in...

DANIEL FAST, DAY 5: When Court is Not in Session and the Store is Closed

Have you ever felt that God was nowhere to be found? Your circumstances did not change and heaven’s supply store seemed closed for business regardless of your laborious prayer efforts. One of life’s hurricanes rocked your world and the needed supplies were not for sale, or you needed God to arbitrate on your behalf for a pressing decision and heaven’s court was not open. All you heard were crickets. Israel had a similar complaint in B.C. 538. The Babylonians had enslaved and held them captive for 70 years. The oppression had ended and God was seemingly quiet. He was...

DANIEL FAST, DAY 3: Finding Your Voice

You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; — Isaiah 40:9 (NIV) Have you ever wondered why animals cannot talk? There are only two occurrences of animals talking in the Bible. These incidences are recorded in Genesis chapter 3 and Numbers chapter 22. We can glean some valuable insight from these passages of scripture. We see that God controls the tongue and gives us the power of speech. God gave the power of speech to man and...

When we accepted Christ, our "old man" died. At this point, the enemy lost all authority over us. However, the enemy will still try to convince you to think that you are still the "old man". Remember, you will continue to walk in bondage until you know who you are in God. #WordAtTheMount ... See MoreSee Less
