elder-thorbElder Zachary Tyrone Thorb will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 2 at MPWOC, part of the Covenant Brothers’ Men’s Retreat weekend.

Elder Thorb is a Raleigh native and graduate of Garner Senior High. He owns a brick mason business and currently attends Ezekiel Institute of Ministry to gain more knowledge of the word of God.

Elder Thorb received Christ as his personal savior on June 30, 1999 and months later he was filled with the Holy Ghost. In July of 2000 he was ordained as a Deacon. On March 7, 2002, Elder Thorb accepted the call to ministry. In 2004, he was ordained as an Evangelist and in 2007 he was ordained as an Elder.

Elder Thorb was a member of Bible Way Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Joseph and late Pastor Leola Hinton. Currently he is under the leadership of Bishop Verna L. Peterkin, Bright Hope Divine Holy Church of God, Inc.  He has worked in different capacities within the ministry, including the Transportation Ministry, Youth Ministry, Assistant President of the Missionary Department, President of the Men’s Department, and as a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

Many call Elder Thorb “Abraham” — the father of many. He loves to pray, fast and read his word. In 2006, God gave Elder Thorb a vision of having Monday Night prayer for those unable to make it to noonday prayer or just for the ones who wanted to get some prayer in. In 2008 Elder Thorb headed Bible Way’s first vacation Bible school, which was a great success.  God also gave Elder Thorb a vision to head a youth outreach ministry called, “Breeding a Generation of Praisers.” His goal is to connect with  various youth ministers to reach out to the community and to bring more youth to the Kingdom of God.

Elder Thorb is married to Elder Charlette Hinton Thorb, his high school sweetheart, and in November will celebrate 18 years of marriage.
