The purpose of baptism is to publicly confess your personal commitment to Christ. It illustrates your conversion experience. Baptism does not make us Christian; only personal faith in Christ can do that. However, it is an outward sign of an inner commitment.
We also baptize to fulfill the Great Commission given to us by Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). If you wish to be baptized, please contact Deaconess Toni Caviness as soon as possible about your decision before the Saturday service.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes early so we can briefly discuss the meaning of this significant event in your life. This will also give you time for any necessary preparation for the baptism. We encourage you to wear something you do not mind getting soaked in water and that does not cling or become transparent when wet (e.g., white or light-colored cotton). Suggestions: jeans, sweatshirt, sweatpants, dark colored t-shirts, etc.
You will also need to bring a towel and a change of clothing.
