This year’s theme, “Today’s the Day God Breaks My Chains”, was woven throughout the weekend’s activities, which included music, shows and dance by Laughing Out Loud Puppet Ministry and Combined Worship (with Restoration Christian Church).

The Conference Scripture is from Psalms 107:13-16: “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from distress. He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for me, for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.”

It was likely the first and last time so many tie-dyed shirts were seen in Mt. Pleasant’s pulpit and pews.

On Sunday, Minister Demetrice Williams instructed the youth to 1.) calm down and 2.) cry out in his powerful “Thou Art Loosed” sermon, citing Matthew 16:19, Luke 13:10-13. 2 Corinthians 6:14, John 10:10, Romans 3:23 and Psalm 107:13, among others.

If anyone has photos from Friday and Saturday nights to share, please email them to Leslie Ansley as soon as you can, and they’ll be posted here and in the MPWOC Flickr gallery.
