The prophet Isaiah prophesied about the ministry of the coming Messiah when he said, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”
He informs us that the Messiah would have a seven-fold anointing to do the seven specific things in bold print above. Jesus claimed to be the Messiah who had fulfilled in part and would fulfill in totality the prophecy of Isaiah.
Luke chapter 4:16-21 states, “He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Although Jesus has ascended back to the Father and is seated at his right hand, this sevenfold anointing is now released upon the Church. The ministry that Jesus released is being continually released through the Church, which is the body of Christ.
Ephesians 3:10 states, “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.” The Church has a power within it that can deal with issues in the heavenly realms that affect us in the natural realm.
It is God’s desire that we experience the supernatural release of his anointing in our lives and that this anointing be released into the lives of others. You are the connecting point between two worlds. This stuff is as real as it gets! TODAY this scripture is continually being fulfilled!
Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).
John the apostle said, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (I John 4:4).
We need to realize all that God has released into our hands experientially, and to release the anointing within us.
