In the days of slavery, cruel slave owners would put heavy yokes and chains upon the necks of slaves to immobilize them and keep them in bondage. As long as the yokes were upon their necks, their bondage was secured.
A slave would work for years to earn enough to pay off his master to become a free man. Many times, however, the slave owners would trick their slaves into working their entire lives for only the illusion of freedom.
Slaves were sold, auctioned off to whomever could pay the price to own them. As I was praying, I could see men and women with heavy spiritual yokes upon their necks, kneeling down before slave owners at an auction.
I could also see Christ coming into this horrible human tragedy and paying the price for every slave. When Christ died on Calvary, he paid the price for our sins, our iniquities, our healing, and our peace. He canceled the debt in all of these areas for us, and he paid the price.
Isaiah 53:4-5 says, “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
The enemy will try to trick us into thinking we have to pay the price for our freedom (deliverance, healing, peace, etc.), but our debts in these areas are already canceled, retired by the power of the blood of Jesus.
When the slave’s debt is canceled, he/she still has the heavy yoke around the neck that needs to be destroyed. This is where a lot of Christians miss the revelation. They do one of three things:
1. Go back with the slave owner (Satan) to work off the debt, even though it’s been canceled;
2. Realize they are free, but keep the yoke on their necks,
3. Refuse to demand their yokes be destroyed, even though they are free.
Many Christians walk around daily trying to pay the price for healing, forgiveness, peace, etc., with dead works. When we attempt to do what Christ has already done for us, it is a dead work.
In this Year of Jubilee, all spiritual debts are canceled and we do not have to pay a price for what Christ has canceled. We need to release the anointing in our lives to destroy the yokes so that we can experience the fullness of freedom in Christ.
Isaiah 10:27, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
