Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Today’s release is kinda different from what we have done the past two days. When we are in Christ, we cannot hold onto things that will hinder the life in Christ. In most cases, it is stuff from the past that we want to hang onto. The choice becomes easy when we realize that we either let it go and embrace what God has for us, or hang onto it and not experience what God has. Releasing the past is letting go of one thing to grab hold of another.  It is an exchange.

We cannot grab what is in Christ and hold onto what we need to release. We can only hold onto one thing at a time. We have to release that which is not working to grab hold of that which is.

Today is an opportunity to release that which is behind because it keeps us behind. It moves us behind. We release so that we can reach and grab. We cannot grab something with a full hand. Only an empty hand can grab hold of something. What is in Christ is right in front of us. Will we release so that we can grab it? That which we grab will move us out, on, and forward. That we hold onto will keep us bound, in, and backward.

In this Year of Jubilee, we cannot experience (grab hold) the full release of who we are “in Christ” until we chose to release (let go) what is keeping us from that. Again, only an empty hand can grab.

One last thing: I could hear the Holy Spirit saying to me this morning that all of the good things we are desiring are already in Christ. As we release (i.e., grab hold), we will experience those good things. Sometimes grabbing hold of one thing releases what we actually wanted in the first place.

I am hoping that more of you will join the 21 Days of Prayer/Release. This is your moment to sacrifice, to lay hold of what God has for us as a church. Some are still sleeping . . . literally and spiritually! WAKE UP!!!
